January 1, 2007 saw the University of Redlands Rose Parade float, themed “A
Century Educating Minds and Hearts” gliding down Colorado Blvd. on a
picture-perfect California morning. More than 550 alumni, students, faculty,
staff, and friends of the university cheered the float on from the Redlands
section of the grandstands and hundreds more cheered and chanted the Och Tamale
from various areas all along the 5.5 mile route.

Approximately 25,000 roses, carnations, Gerbera daisies, mums and irises
created the campus grounds.

Thousands of dendrobium orchids decorated the cascades on the chapel.

Hundreds of pounds of coconut, dock weed, flaxseed and golden flax were used
for the fur of the bulldog.

Thousands of pounds of sesame seed created the walls of the Chapel and
surrounding structure.
